• Executive Summary

This portfolio showcases my ability to design engaging, learner-centered experiences through the integration of instructional design principles, educational technology, and project management. Drawing on the knowledge and practical skills I developed through my graduate studies in Instructional Systems and Learning Technologies at Florida State University, the portfolio highlights three projects that demonstrate my approach to instructional design: An interactive PowerPoint learning game, an educational podcast developed in Audacity, and a project management plan for redesigning a traditional graduate course into an accelerated online format. Together, these projects reflect my commitment to creating meaningful learning experiences that are interactive, accessible, and aligned with measurable learning outcomes.

‍     ‍’Dahlia and the Forest Quest’ is an interactive learning game developed in Microsoft PowerPoint that combines storytelling, problem-solving, and gamification to create an engaging educational experience. Players guide Dahlia, the main character, through a mysterious forest in search of her missing cat by uncovering clues, solving challenges, and answering questions that unlock new stages of the adventure. The game incorporates a variety of interactive elements, including branching navigation, clickable objects that make sounds, immediate feedback, time bars and achievement badges that reward learner progress. These features encourage exploration, reinforce learning, and maintain learner motivation while demonstrating my ability to design immersive, learner-centered experiences using widely accessible technology. This project demonstrates competency in the areas of design principles such as modality principle and multimedia principle to deliver a powerful and engaging lesson.

‍’Do’s and Don’ts of German Culture’ is an episode in the educational podcast ‘Ya' or 'Nein'. Developed in Audacity, it introduces learners to the essentials of German culture through engaging storytelling, authentic scenarios, and real-world examples. With the use of Gagne’s nine events of instruction, the podcast explores the do's and don'ts of everyday interactions while using a conversational format to promote learner engagement, cultural awareness, and knowledge retention. This project demonstrates my ability to select and use appropriate technology and media to achieve specific learning outcomes by developing high-quality audio-based instructional materials. It also showcases my experience designing multimedia learning experiences, applying learning theory and instructional design models, integrating technology throughout the design process, and communicating information effectively through written, oral, and audio formats. Through the use of digital media and instructional design principles, the podcast illustrates my ability to create engaging, learner-centered e-learning experiences that support meaningful learning.

The Managing Instructional Development: Accelerated Course Redesign project demonstrates the application of instructional project management principles through the redesign of a traditional 16-week graduate course into an accelerated 8-week online learning experience. The project showcases my ability to develop a comprehensive management plan, establish project scope and goals, generate a budget, allocate resources, and create proposals to support project implementation. It also highlights my experience identifying and resolving project management challenges, managing project personnel, collaborating with team members and stakeholders, and using project management tools to guide the successful planning and execution of an instructional design initiative.

Across these three projects, I demonstrate a broad range of instructional design and project management competencies that reflect my ability to create effective, learner-centered solutions. My strengths include selecting and integrating appropriate technologies to support specific learning outcomes, developing engaging instructional materials across multiple media formats, and designing interactive e-learning experiences that apply sound learning theory and instructional design models. I am skilled at communicating ideas through written, visual, oral, and multimedia formats while leveraging technology throughout the design process to enhance learner engagement. In addition, I have applied project management principles by developing comprehensive management plans, defining project scope and goals, allocating resources, managing timelines and budgets, collaborating with stakeholders, and using project management tools to guide successful implementation. Together, these projects demonstrate my ability to combine creativity, instructional design expertise, technology integration, and strategic project management to develop innovative learning experiences that meet both learner and organizational needs.
