Role- Creator/Host of the Podcast
Context-Created for EME 6415 to demonstrate creation of learning activities through multimedia.
Conditions-This was an individual project where I worked alone. The requirements were given to use features of audacity (found under design principles) as well as to incorporate Gagne’s nine events of instruction.
Scope-The assignment was given in a three parts over a series of three weeks. Each assignment built on the other until a completed project resulted at the end of the third week.

Communication Skills
Communicate effectively in written, oral, and visual formats.
The podcast communicates information through a carefully written script and engaging narration that presents German cultural concepts in a clear, conversational style.
Produce clear, concise and grammatically correct messages.
Each episode was scripted, edited, and reviewed to ensure accurate grammar, concise language, and logical organization. The conversational format makes the script easy to understand. The podcast was edited in Audacity in order to reach a maximum level of clarity.
Design Skills
Apply learning theory and systems thinking to design practice.
The podcast applies Gagné's Nine Events of Instruction by gaining learners' attention, activating prior knowledge, presenting new information through authentic scenarios, providing guidance, reinforcing learning, and encouraging retention through reflection. The instructional sequence was intentionally designed to support meaningful learning rather than simply deliver information.
Select, modify or create effective design models.
The instructional design was guided by Gagné's instructional model and adapted specifically for an audio-based learning environment. Storytelling and real-world examples were selected as instructional strategies to maximize learner engagement and knowledge retention.
Technology and Media Skills
Select and use appropriate technology and media for specific outcomes.
Audacity was selected as the primary development tool because audio is an effective medium for conversational learning, storytelling, and cultural instruction. The technology supported the project's objective of creating an engaging and accessible learning experience.
Develop instructional materials using a variety of media (e.g., print, audio-visual, multimedia).
The project incorporated multiple forms of instructional media, including scripted written content and professionally edited audio.
Use technology tools in the design process.
Technology was integrated throughout every phase of development—from scripting and storyboarding to audio recording, editing, sound enhancement, and final production.
Personal & Interpersonal Skills
Give and receive constructive feedback.
The podcast was refined through feedback received during the design and development process. Revisions were made based on peer and instructor input to improve clarity, pacing, learner engagement, and instructional effectiveness.
Recognize and accommodate individual and cultural differences.
The project emphasizes cultural awareness by presenting authentic German customs and etiquette in a respectful, nonjudgmental manner. Content was designed to help learners appreciate cultural differences while avoiding stereotypes and promoting cross-cultural understanding.
Adhere to legal guidelines and ethical standards of the profession.
All content was created using accurate information from credible sources while respecting copyright and intellectual property requirements. The podcast promotes ethical instructional design by presenting culturally accurate information, using appropriate media, and ensuring that all materials align with professional standards for educational content.
